15-4 & 8-1 in conference
CENTENNTIAL CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS!

The Bruins traveled two and half hours to Enid for the first time. Enid joined our conference this year when the West division split from the Frontier Conference. The game was played at the Mark Price Arena. This is a difficult game for me personally as Enid is coached by my former assistant and close friend Will Jones. The Bruins held on to win 56-51 for a hard fought victory. We gave up an 11 point lead with two minutes left. Nate Jones led us in scoring with 27 points. The win clinched the conference championship for us. We now travel to Stillwater on Monday to makeup a game that was snowed out on February 1st.

14-4 & 7-1 in conference
Senior Night

Tonight we honored our two seniors Marquisse Jackson and Chris Griffith. I cannot say enough good things about these two fine gentlemen. They come from outstanding families and were raised in a Christian environment. I never worry about how they will act in or out of school. I would take many more players like these two. They played on the junior varsity team as sophomores and juniors. Now they are seniors and it is their time to shine, and they have done just that. I would hate to think where we would be without them. We beat Sapulpa 53-37 to send them out for a victory in their last home game in the Bruin Field House.

13-4 & 6-1 in conference
Oh what a long weekend!

The bruins were upset at Ponca City on Friday night. We played as poorly as we have all year and lost 40-49. Defensively we stunk it up!!!! Now we have our backs to the wall in the race for a conference championship. We had a two game lead in the standings and now it is down to one and we have our two biggest road trips of the season at Enid and Stillwater. We have been hit by the injury and drama all year long. I have never experienced a season like this in my whole coaching career!

13-3 & 6-0 in conference
Homecoming in the Ville!

Sand Springs traveled to Bartlesville on a night that Marquisse Jackson was crowed king of the winter sports homecoming. The bruins won 55-33, finally we have a game were everyone got to play and that didn’t come down to the last possession.

Bruins are 11-3 & 4-0 in conference but the streak is over.

The Bruins traveled to Catoosa to play in the 42nd Annual Port City Classic this past weekend. We were the defending two time champions of the tournament.

We were lucky and defeated Victory Christian 54-53, on a Nate Jones last second shot, to finish third.

Nate Jones made the All-Tournament Team having scored 29-24-25 in three games.
We opened the tournament with a solid win against Claremore 61-50 and moved into the semifinals. We lost to Capitol Hill (14-1) 46-51 in a game we could have won. We gave up way too many offensive rebounds and committed way too many turnovers.

January 21, 2008

Bruins are 9-2 & 4-0 in conference and on a 7 game winning streak.

WOW, what a wild weekend! With this team one never knows what is going to happen!

We find a way to win but we have a bad habit of playing to the level of our competition.

The Bruins on Friday night had a great win over a very talented Enid team 63-56. Enid is coached by my former assistant and close friend Will Jones. It is very difficult to play family and/or friends such as Will. It takes some of the glory out of winning because I know how upset Will felt after the game.

On Saturday we traveled on the road to Sapulpa to makeup an ice game. I don’t like playing on Saturdays because I believe you lose some of your fan base. We were awful and struggled for the first 24 minutes of the game!! This team over looked Sapulpa, and this team can not afford to over look ANYONE! We finally got untracked and went on a 15-0 run to start the 4th quarter and out scored Sapulpa 21-6 in the 4th quarter to pull out a win 52-42.

January 14, 2008

Bruins are 7-2 & 2-0 in conference and on a 5 game winning streak.

On Tuesday we revenged an earlier loss to Owasso 58-51. We played well and I think we are finally coming together as a team. We lead the entire game and by as many as 16 in the 2nd half.

We were off on Friday and my staff and I went to Tulsa to scout Claremore, who we will be playing in the first round of the Port City Classic.

Jackson celebrated his 12 birthday in Stillwater playing in a youth basketball tournament. We had a busy weekend! He played a game at 10:00 AM, we went and watched the OSU-Texas Tech men play, he had another game at 3:00pm and we returned to watch the OSU-OU women play. Not to mention a team birthday party in between all those activities.

January 7, 2008

Bruins are 6-2 & 2-0 in the Centennial Conference and on a four game winning streak.

The always dangerous Stillwater Pioneers traveled to Bartlesville for a conference game. The mark of a good coach is when you hate to play against them and I hate to play Stillwater! Chick Davis does more with less than any coach in our league.

The Bruins hung on to win 62-59 in over time. We blew a big lead only made 9-21 from the free throw line.
